Detect TV Channel for Second Screen

Live TV Channel Detection Service enable apps to recognize which TV Channel is being watched by the user and trigger the interactive content to users.

Let’s get started!

Step 1

Create a Live Channel bucket: You can ingest your own live channels by creating your own bucket and add local stream URLs to it. You can also import the live channels that you have already ingested or shared by others by choosing “Import from existing channels”.  Follow the instruction below:

[Optional] Create a Timeshift Channel: Please check “Enable Timeshift” while creating the Live Channel buckets if you require the timeshift channels.You can input the number of hours you need for “Timeshift Period” and select the timeshift enabled channels to the timeshift channels buckets.  Follow the instruction below:



Step 2

If you created your own bucket, you need to use Live Channel Fingerprinting Tool to generate fingerprints of live channels on your local server.

Step 3

Create a Live Channel Detection project and add the buckets you want to use.

For testing purpose, you can add the bucket “ACRCloud Test“, ACRCloud offers 2 TV channels in this bucket for testing. You can stream the 2 channels on their official website as below (you can also test with the streams if you are able to watch the channels via cable or satellite):

Step 4

Save the “host”, “access_key”, “access_secret” of your project. You can find them in the places shown below.

Step 5
